THE WORKS CREATED SPECIFICALLY FOR THIS VIRUTAL SPACE OF 28 MILLION X 28 MILLION X 256 BLOCKS WILL BE SHOWN IN THE PROCESS OF BEING CONSTRUCTED BY SURRY, A FAMOUS YOUTUBER.
DURING A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME IN SEPTEMBER THE WORLD WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. EVERYBODY WHO HAS ACCESS TO THE GAME IS INVITED TO IMMERSE INTO THE ENVIRONMENT AND EXPERIENCE THE ARTWORKS IN-SITU. THERE WILL ALSO BE GUIDED TOURS IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES.

DIGITAL MEMORIAL - A MEMORIAL TO A MONUMENT.
A COMMEMORATION OF A STATUE THAT WAS DESTROYED (MADE FROM A POPLAR TREE, LATER, ENGULFED IN FLAMES). THE MONUMENT WAS ERECTED AS A COMMENT ON THE ABSURD STATE OF POLITICS PERMEATING THE CONTEMPORARY LANDSCAPE. THE STATUE WAS INTENDED AS A SATIRICAL ANTI-MONUMENT COMMEMORATING THE CONTRADICTORY LIE-INFUSED REALITY WE ALL FIND OURSELVES WITHIN.
THE CAUSE FOR THE ERECTION OF THE MONUMENT TO MELANIA IS BRAD'S FIRST VISIT TO SLOVENIA IN THE SUMMER OF 2018, WHEN HE DISCOVERED THAT IT IS THE BIRTHPLACE OF THE FIRST LADY OF HIS HOMELAND.
ANOTHER MOTIVATION COULD CERTAINLY BE THE AGGRESSIVE ANTI-IMMIGRANT RHETORIC AND POLICIES OF HER HUSBAND. SO BRAD DECIDED TO COMMEMORATE THIS CONTRADICTION NAMED MELANIA TOGETHER WITH A TEAM OF SLOVENIAN COLLEAGUES AND THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. AFTER CHOOSING AND BUYING THE POPLAR TREE AND AFTER MEETING AND BRINGING MAXI - AN AMATEUR CHAINSAW SCULPTOR, BORN IN THE SAME MONTH OF THE SAME YEAR AND IN THE SAME MATERNITY WARD AS MELANIA - INTO THE PROJECT, THE MONUMENT WAS UNVEILED LAST YEAR IN ROZNO, NEAR SEVNICA, ON THE DAY WHEN THE AMERICAN PEOPLE CELEBRATE THE DECLARATION OF THEIR INDEPENDENCE.
EXACTLY ONE YEAR AFTER THE UNVEILING, ON THE 4TH OF JULY 2020, UNKNOWN PERPETRATORS BURNED DOWN THE MONUMENT IN ROZNO. BRAD THEN REMOVED IT AND, JOINING FORCES WITH THE LOCAL COMMUNITY THAT TOOK CARE OF THE MONUMENT AND ITS SURROUNDINGS, BEGAN TO PLAN THE ERECTION OF A REPLACEMENT.

IN HER INSTALLATIONS PEOPLE AND OBJECTS FACE EACH OTHER AND CREATE SPACES BETWEEN THEM. FROM AN EXISTENTIAL POINT OF VIEW, THESE SPACES ARE PERCEPTION AND THE MEASUREMENT OF THE CLOSENESS OR THE DISTANCE TO OTHERS THAT FORMS US AND THAT GIVES SHAPE.
THROUGH HER WORKS SHE WANTS TO SHOW ORDER AND DISORDER SIMULTANEOUSLY, TRYING TO COMBINE DIFFERENT WAYS OF THINKING, SHOWING THE LIMITS OF THE "PERFECT SYSTEMS" THAT WE TRY TO CREATE.
ESTHER STOCKER WANTS TO OFFER OPPORTUNITES TO ESCAPE THOSE STRICT SYSTEMS IN ORDER TO DEVELOP ESSENTIAL PARTS OF INDIVIDUALITY.
Simulate a house and lamp and a staircase in the highest resolution necessary. Raise colorful walls in a reality where it absolutely makes sense. Ride a rectangular horse in a world so full of cubes that it looks like a sphere.
As far as we know the elementary particles of our entire universe could be tiny cuboids. Quarks. Protons, Electrons, Neutrons. Atoms bind to molecules. Molecules form Clouds, rains, rivers and oceans. They make up human and human make up society. We arrange letters to play with words to form phrases, to create concepts, like a matryoshka doll.
As kids we play hours on end to prepare for a life of work. And as adults we work hours on end to live a life of play. Let’s adjust the resolution to where these ends meet, with enough room for boredom in between. Your goal is more than just to survive. Take your time to learn the mechanics and then shape the sandbox surrounding you. Like the smallest particle, nobody really knows, but there’s no apparent goal.
THE SMALL KOREAN VILLAGE OF MOTGOL WAS FACING A REDEVELOPMENT CRISIS IN WHICH URBANIZATION WAS THREATENING ITS TRADITIONAL ARCHITECTURE AND INHABITANTS. OFTEN, THE INHABITANTS OF THESE ANCIENT VILLAGES ARE FORCED TO LEAVE THEIR HOMES, EVEN IF THEY WANT TO STAY. THEY MUST WATCH AS THE PLACES THEY HAVE LIVED IN ARE DESTROYED AND ARE RARELY COMPENSATED FOR THEIR LOSS.
IN THE PROCESS OF REDEVELOPMENT, IN KOREA, THE THUMBPRINT OR "JIJANG" <THE THUMBPRINT WITH A KOREAN TRADITIONAL INK 'INJU'> HAS A LEGAL AND PERSONALLY BINDING POWER SIMILAR TO A SIGNATURE. WITH JUST A THUMBPRINT, WHOLE COMMUNITIES ARE TURNED OVER TO DESTRUCTION, PEOPLE DRIVEN TO BANKRUPTCY, AND JUST AS EASILY, MILLIONS OF DOLLARS EXCHANGED.
JAZOO YANG COVERED A HOME SET FOR DEMOLITION IN MOTGOL WITH HER <JIJANG>, WHICH ALSO MEANS A PUBLIC EXPRESSION ABOUT PROMISE, CONTRACT, PLEDGE, OR OATH IN KOREA. THE WORK WAS THE FIRST TIME YANG WAS ABLE TO REALIZE HER PROJECT GOAL, WITH TWO PREVIOUS INCIDENTS OF HOMES BEING DEMOLISHED EARLY.
IN 2015, WHILE BOTH THE HOUSE AND THE THUMBPRINT ON THEM WERE DESTROYED RIGHT AFTER HER WORK WAS DONE, IN MINECRAFT, A VIRTUAL SPACE WITHOUT TIME AND SPACE CONSTRAINTS, YANG RESURRECTS THE DEMOLISHED HOUSE AND MEMORIES OF AN OLD COMMUNITY IN MOTGOL AGAIN.

BY ARRANGING SCENARIOS THAT IS A MIX OF PIXELATED ORDINARY ITEMS, COMBINED WITH A SELECTION OF BLOCKS FROM THE GAME, HE WISHES TO BLUR THE LINE BETWEEN WHAT'S REAL AND WHAT'S NOT.
IN THE ERA OF VIRTUAL REALITY, HOLOGRAMS AND TRIPS TO MARS, MINECRAFT PROPOSES A PARALLEL REALITY IN WHICH YOU HAVE ABOUT FIFTY DIOPTERS MORE. EVERYTHING IS BLOCKS. THE SAND IS SQUARE, THE PIGS ARE SQUARE AND EVEN CIRCLES ARE SQUARE. THE REALITY TAKEN TO ITS MINIMUM. EVERYTHING SEEMS TO COME FROM THE SAME CUBIC ATOM.

THE FUNNY THING IN MINECRAFT IS THAT YOUR VISION DOES NOT DEPEND ON DISTANCE.
AS MUCH AS YOU GET TO THE LINES BELOW, WHERE THE SMALLEST SYMBOLS ARE, YOU WILL NOT DISCOVER ANY SYMBOLS, ONLY SQUARES.
REPRESENTING A HUMAN EYE WITH MINECRAFT BUILDING UNIT WAS A CHALLENGE. AFTER SOME FINE TUNING REGARDING THE DEEPNESS OF THE LOWER LAYERS VS THE BRIGHT TOP LAYERS, VHILS CAME OUT WITH THIS HUMAN EYE REPRESENTATION.
SINCE WE ARE WORKING IN THE VIRTUAL WORLD AND ITS UNLIMITED POSSIBILITIES, WHY NOT TAKE THE MOST OF IT AND DO SOMETHING MORE SURREAL?
